Development of the Slovenian media market resulted in Media Pool, the first specialised media buyer. It was set up in 1997 by advertising agencies Avanta d.o.o., Formitas d.o.o., Futura d.o.o., Agencija Imelda d.o.o., Pristop d.o.o. and Studio 3S d.o.o, followed in December 1998 by Luna d.o.o., its seventh owner. The agencies made this joint step, as the media space buying function was in desperate need of specialisation that would enable rational and transparent operation.

Media Pool is the strongest media buyer on the Slovenian media market. Its main characteristic is an entire range of media coverage under affordable conditions, since it strives to an equal coverage of all media space, not only some of its segments.
While buying media space and time it recognises all world-wide trends, such as dividing agency and buying services, budget concentration and transferring rebates to advertisers, to name but a few. Precise observation of events and professional experience assure good conditions and a high quality service to all our subscribers.

The end of 2003 was marked by the launch of business portal Media Pool that enables B2B operation between agencies and Media Pool. It is its intention to extend such an operation also to the media. Business portal Media Pool facilitates the work of media planners by means of automated media planning. It enables direct preparation of orders placed from the media plan. Most of communication is done via electronic medium, thus becoming a more reliable and less expensive operation.

Medial Pool does not only buy media space, but is also concerned with the development of media planning profession. In 2006 it has organised the ninth consecutive seminar on media planning named SEMPL.
Its research and development department conducts media analyses and surveys, offers data and support in media planning to agencies, and cooperates with other media in establishing single common buying currencies and research development. It prides itself in its nine consecutive year of preparation of a thorough analysis of the Slovenian radio market named Radiometrija, which takes into account the listeners, audibility, listening mode, programme guidelines, prices and radio advertising possibilities. Computer programme Radiometrija Media Pool has been made available since 2004, providing a simple tool, which helps to analyse ratings of all Slovenian radio programmes.
