Cinema companies in Slovenia introduced the following novelties in 2006/07:

The Kolosej kinematografi, d.o.o. company opened the first XpanD cinema halls in 2006. The halls, located in the Arena Vodafone live! Entertainment centre in Ljubljana and the Maribor cinema centre, are the first in Slovenia to project movies in a digital, stereoscopic technique. Advertisers can display their ads on the silver screen in XpanD halls on both locations.

Additional new advertising possibilities include ads on billboards in Ljubljana and Maribor Kolosej multiplexes as well as advertisements on the central glass front of the Ljubljana multiplex. The Casino Rio gaming house, located by the Ljubljana XpanD cinema hall, also offers numerous other possibilities for advertising (source: Kolosej kinematografi, d.o.o.).

Retailer Engrotuš opened in August 2006 a shopping and entertainment centre Planet Tuš Maribor. The facility located in Slovenia’s second largest city offers shopping and catering alongside a multiplex and bowling and pool centres. The centre gives advertisers scores of opportunities for advertising, including on the big screen, billboards located on the building and distribution of promotion materials.

The Celje and Maribor Planet Tuš centres also offer a new way of advertising – plasma and TV screens. Each centre is equipped with 18 plasma screens, located in the lobby, bowling and pool halls and in the Planet Bar pub with the aim to maximise the advertising effect (source: Engrotuš d.o.o.).
